Good Company

NYASH! x Stepping Stones Cafe

Description

In a sold out event earlier in February, NYASH! put on a live music performance in collaboration with Stepping Stones Café with the support of the Good Company grant.

As the sun set over the Brindabella Ranges, the audience were treated to the sweet warm sounds of brass and bass wafting over a bed of skanking guitars and hypnotic percussion from NYASH! (Canberra’s very own enclave of afrobeat, ska and reggae sounds). A perfect summer evening of good company and live music.

“We had a lot of fun on stage and got a lot of energy from an enthusiastic audience. The timing of the sunset for the last few songs was impeccable.”

Good Company was a small grants program (part of artsACT’s Creative Recovery and Resilience Program) designed to turn businesses all over Canberra into places where art happens.

Artists were able to apply for a $5000 grant which supported them to produce an in-person arts event, situated in a Canberra venue or business between January – April 2022.

The goals of Good Company were to put money into the pockets of artists and arts workers, support arts events to happen in the ACT, to foster creative relationships between artists and businesses and to bring people and activity back into businesses that continue to be affected by COVID.

A total of 12 events were funded through the grant program with $60,000 delivered to the arts community.
