Good Company

Us Mob Writing Workshop at Muse

Description

Us Mob Writing Group members were invited to stimulate their creative juices and plan for the future at Muse Canberra in a writing workshop to work on poetry and short stories for future publications.

Us Mob Writing Group are a group of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers based in Canberra. The workshop involved strategic planning and discussions on future events and projects.

Towards the end of the session, friends and family were invited to join as an audience to enjoy the works created throughout the workshop.

“Time and space were provided to produce new works and re-connect with one another.”

Good Company was a small grants program (part of artsACT’s Creative Recovery and Resilience Program) designed to turn businesses all over Canberra into places where art happens.

Artists were able to apply for a $5000 grant which supported them to produce an in-person arts event, situated in a Canberra venue or business between January – April 2022.

The goals of Good Company were to put money into the pockets of artists and arts workers, support arts events to happen in the ACT, to foster creative relationships between artists and businesses and to bring people and activity back into businesses that continue to be affected by COVID.

A total of 12 events were funded through the grant program with $60,000 delivered to the arts community.
