Ethical Non-Comedy: Intro to Sketch at The Front

Description

A group of new and seasoned comedians gathered at The Front in Lyneham to learn about sketch and improv comedy with Ethical Non-Comedy’s free workshop.

Led by Sionna Maple and Ella Kamer – the evening included icebreaker games, improvisational exercises, on-the-spot monologues, and networking drinks.

The workshop was a glimpse of what is to come for Ethical Non-Comedy, with the group motivated to continue with another series of workshops.

“The general atmosphere was encouraging to witness. We aimed to make our event as inclusive and welcoming as possible, and we believe we achieved that mission… Everyone left the workshop feeling more confident in their ability to engage in sketch comedy”

Good Company was a small grants program (part of artsACT’s Creative Recovery and Resilience Program) designed to turn businesses all over Canberra into places where art happens.

Artists were able to apply for a $5000 grant which supported them to produce an in-person arts event, situated in a Canberra venue or business between January – April 2022.

The goals of Good Company were to put money into the pockets of artists and arts workers, support arts events to happen in the ACT, to foster creative relationships between artists and businesses and to bring people and activity back into businesses that continue to be affected by COVID.

A total of 12 events were funded through the grant program with $60,000 delivered to the arts community.
