Good Company

Emotional Repair Cafe at The Gathering Place

Description

Emotional Repair Café was a full-day creative experience that invited participants to take time and space out of the chaos of living through a global pandemic, whilst engaging in gentle textile practices.

Held at The Gathering Place, the experience was designed by Michele Grimston to offer a quiet space for people to pause and take some time to process some of what has happened over the past few years.

“I was truly humbled by how seriously people took their participation in this experience and how willing they were to open themselves up to the process and the experience of this way of working.”

Good Company was a small grants program (part of artsACT’s Creative Recovery and Resilience Program) designed to turn businesses all over Canberra into places where art happens.

Artists were able to apply for a $5000 grant which supported them to produce an in-person arts event, situated in a Canberra venue or business between January – April 2022.

The goals of Good Company were to put money into the pockets of artists and arts workers, support arts events to happen in the ACT, to foster creative relationships between artists and businesses and to bring people and activity back into businesses that continue to be affected by COVID.

A total of 12 events were funded through the grant program with $60,000 delivered to the arts community.
