Good Company

The Landing by Ike(from)Pluto + Kriss Kross at The Polo

Description

The ‘Polo’ opened its doors to host The Landing, just 25 hours after Canberra’s restrictions on live events were lifted in 2022, making it the first live concert with a dancefloor in 7 months!

The Landing featured dancers; Faith Ajaye, Mitch Cridland, Divine Tshibangu, Favor Wallace and Belle Wills, plus live music from Ike(from)Pluto and Partyateleven.

The line-up, which consisted entirely of artists that identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+, entertained and inspired a sold-out crowd with an array of song and dance that represented a vast number of styles and cultures.

“The sold out event certainly lived up to expectations and the capital’s gig goers are sure to be craving more.”

Good Company was a small grants program (part of artsACT’s Creative Recovery and Resilience Program) designed to turn businesses all over Canberra into places where art happens.

Artists were able to apply for a $5000 grant which supported them to produce an in-person arts event, situated in a Canberra venue or business between January – April 2022.

The goals of Good Company were to put money into the pockets of artists and arts workers, support arts events to happen in the ACT, to foster creative relationships between artists and businesses and to bring people and activity back into businesses that continue to be affected by COVID.

A total of 12 events were funded through the grant program with $60,000 delivered to the arts community.
